Why migrate to Microsoft 365?

Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) has become the de facto standard for business productivity. The combination of familiar applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams) with cloud services (Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive) offers companies flexibility, improved collaboration, and access from anywhere.

But migration doesn't just mean moving your email to the cloud. It's a transformation of how your team works, communicates, and stores information. That's why careful planning makes the difference between a smooth transition and a problematic one.

What needs to be prepared before migration?

Auditul infrastructurii existente — the first step is a complete inventory: how many mailboxes, what volume of data, what custom rules and delegations exist? An incomplete assessment leads to surprises during migration.

DNS and domain configuration — MX, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records must be correctly configured to ensure email delivery and security. A misconfigured DNS can result in lost messages or spam classification.

Licensing and subscription plan — choosing between Business Basic, Business Standard, Business Premium, or E3/E5 depends on your company's specific needs: do you need desktop Office apps? Advanced security? Device management?

The migration process At Brasov IT Hub, we follow a structured process:

Pre-migration audit — analysis of the current infrastructure, identification of risks and dependencies.

Pilot migration — testing with a small group of users to validate the process and identify potential issues.

Full migration — gradual transfer of all mailboxes, calendars, contacts, and files.

Post-migration configuration — security policies, MFA, conditional access, and monitoring.

Training and support — helping users adapt to the new environment.

Common mistakes in migration

Lack of planning — starting migration without a clear assessment of the current environment leads to unexpected issues.

Ignoring security — not configuring MFA and conditional access policies from the start exposes the organization to risks. Contact Us Insufficient training — users who don't understand the new tools will resist the change and reduce productivity.
